online poker games, like their players, have distinct personalities. A casino game can be tight or loose, aggressive or passive, or any combination of these. Knowing what kind of game you are involved in is a huge key to winning that game. One such type is the tight passive game.
Tight Passive poker games consist of a lot of folding. Most players in a tight passive game are very picky about the hands that they will play, and tend to fold incessantly. Once in the hand, the typical competitor in a tight passive game will be eager to fold if they miss the flop. Tight passive games can seem a lot harder to crack, because people are reticent to bet unless they’ve got a hand that they are really confident in, and it’s difficult to get to showdown when you’ve got the nuts.
The best strategy when up against a table of tight passive players is to buy, buy, buy. You will want to use your usual discretion when you bluff, but be aware that at tables that are tight and aggressive, you’ve got a much better chance at buying up a host of blinds and small pots. You can slowly chip away at your opponents with lousy cards and set them up for when you do have a monster hand.
