If you are new to the field, you will have to acquire the right training to start. Most importantly, you have to have a good speaking voice. You need to speak very clear and learn to enunciate. Correct diction is very important in voice over jobs. If no one can hear you then you are not performing your job very well. Get a book or magazine and practice reciting it out loud. Good reading skills are a must. You must also be comfortable with reading it aloud because much of the time in voice over work, you will be reading something without having practiced it. If you feel comfortable doing this, then voice over jobs may be a suitable for you.

We have all made a phone call where we have been tapped into an automated system almost immediately. The voice on the other end is not computerized, it is just another example of voice over narrative. Someone had to enter a recording studio and narrate the prompts individually possibly the time, as well as anything else that was necessary for the automated system. There is a lot more to voice over works than most people would think. It sounds like it would be easy, but it takes education, knowledge and patience. Voice over work can lead to a fun and rewarding career behind the scenes or on-screen.
